U-13 Cricket Team
 |
The Bermuda Cricket
Board today announced that the Under 13 League will be called
the Bermuda Security Group Under 13 League. The league will be
starting out this season under much safer conditions thanks to
the generous support once again of the Bermuda Security Group.
Their direct investment in youth cricket at the grassroots level
has allowed for the purchase of helmets to ensure the safety of
our younger players. Each team will also be provided with 12
playing shirts kindly provided by BSG. This will be the third
consecutive season that BSG have sponsored the U13 League which
continues to grow in popularity and strength with 10 teams being
fielded this year. |
Reginald Pearman, the Bermuda Cricket Board
President said, ³Working with the Youth of Bermuda is one of the main
drives of the development program of the BCB. We feel very strongly in
cricket providing our youth with structure and discipline as well as a
fun and safe environment in which they can spend their time after
school. Without the support from the Bermuda Security Group this isn¹t
possible and so we are truly appreciative of the opportunities that
their support has provided. It is exciting to know that as a direct
consequence of the U13 League there is now a National U13 team that we
are hoping will be competing internationally later this year.
Also, maybe something of note for the first
time this year we will be having an all girls team in the U10 League and
girls have been invited to join the U13 League as well so we are hoping
that the BSG U13 League will soon target not only boys but girls and
even all girls teams as well.²
Paul Ross, the VP Business Development and
Finance of the Bermuda Security Group said, ³It is a pleasure for
Bermuda Security Group to be involved in sponsoring the U13 League and
thinking that one day several of these players may be representing the
country in the World Cup. We view this investment in the youth program
as part of our responsibility to ensuring that we have a better Bermuda
for years to come. When we see the excitement, passion, and the fun
experienced through sport we are optimistic for the future of cricket
and know that the so called ³minnows² can and will continue to surprise
the more established test nations. This commitment to the U13 League is
just one piece of the overall plan for cricket in Bermuda and we are
proud to be associated with the BCB in this venture.² (Courtesy of
