CENTRAL STATION OPERATIONS
Our Central Station is a busy, event-driven facility, which is operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The successful candidates must be flexible in their work hours and ideally be available to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends.
Successful candidates will be responsible for the following:
- Monitoring of the alarm system, responding promptly to calls and alarms and routing alarms to the appropriate service provider.
- Man the switchboard, routing calls internally as appropriate.
- Interacting with customers and service personnel in a calm and professional manner.
- Providing timely and accurate information to customers, service providers and internal personnel.
- Following orientation, candidates must demonstrate their understanding of alarm handling processes and procedures, as they apply to the
Bermuda Police Policy on Intruder Alarms and other Emergency Service providers.
Experience in the alarm or security industry is preferable but not a requirement. Please note that candidates will undergo employment and criminal reference checks. All candidates should have at least two years of solid work experience and be computer literate.
AIRPORT SCREENERS
Successful candidates will be responsible for screening and searching passengers and baggage, and will be expected to assist passengers with any queries they may have. Individuals must be respectful of passengers and their property and must maintain professionalism at all times. Candidates must have the ability to complete paperwork, have good powers of observation and must be willing to undergo professional certification as a screener.
As a Security Screener, you will be representing Bermuda as you interact with residents/tourists and will be part of the tourist’s impression as they enter and/or leave Bermuda. Candidates must have a High School diploma and BSSC or equivalent and must possess the following:
- Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service.
- The ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
- The ability to work under pressure and deal with large groups of people.
- The ability to work independently and to adhere to time schedules.
- The ability to work various shifts, as scheduled.
All candidates will undergo employment and criminal reference checks and must be approved for licensing by the Bermuda Police Service. In addition, employment is subject to successful completion of the UK Department for Transport Level 1 Security Certification (which includes passing the certification test).
AIRPORT SECURITY POLICE
These high profile, demanding positions involve shift work, working weekends and public holidays.
Security Supervisors Job Duties:
- Assisting with the regular monitoring of the day-to-day operations and taking appropriate action to ensure smooth operations and compliance with processes and regulations including safety regulations.
- Assisting in ensuring full compliance with both local and international security service standards.
- Supervising staff, managing staffing levels and schedules, ensuring performance standards are met and ongoing development of security operations.
- Attending meetings as appropriate, investigating incidents, reporting to management and advising on all aspects of the operation.
- Assisting in ensuring that emergency procedures are clearly understood and intelligently implemented.
- Maintaining good relationships with all relevant agencies and the general public.
Strong accountability and responsibility are required to carry out the job duties. Excellent decision-making, problem solving, and time management skills are essential to this role. Additional requirements include: proficiency with Word and Excel, ability to work in sensitive and pressure situations, strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to provide exceptional customer service. Experience in managing in a union environment is desirable but not essential. Candidates must have a High School diploma and/or BSSC or equivalent, with 5 years experience in a Security related field.
Security Officer Job Duties:
- Responsible for providing guard services using a keen sense of concentration and alertness and completing paperwork required.
- Willing to work on a rotating shift system including weekends and public holidays.
- Being available to report to duty at short notice if necessary.
- Willingness to undergo an intense training period.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma and/or BSSC or equivalent, be of exemplary character, be in good physical condition, must be reliable, must have a manual driver’s license, be able to provide good customer service, and must have good verbal and written communication skills. Prior experience in the security industry would be an asset but is not essential, as extensive training will be provided to successful candidates.
All candidates for both positions will undergo employment and criminal reference checks and must be approved for licensing by the Bermuda Police Service. All candidates must be willing to technical courses as required.
SENIOR SECURITY SYSTEMS TECHNICIANS
Applicants must have at least five (5) years relevant experience with installation, diagnostics, and repair in a security systems environment including computer experience (where programming knowledge is a must). Successful candidates must be familiar with installation and service of all major brands of security, fire, access control and CCTV systems. Candidates must possess a certificate in electronics or security related electronic technology and must be computer literate.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and fellow staff members are a must. These positions require the successful candidate to be on-call 24hrs and to have a clean driver’s license.
GUARD SERVICE
Our Guard Services Department offers openings at various locations across the island. Possible opportunities include night supervisors, temporary special assignment, retail store detectives.
